What is the plot of the Fake?
2024’s Fake follows magazine features writer Birdie Bell (Asher Keddie), who thinks she’s found the one when she meets Joe Burt (David Wenham), a successful grazier, on a dating app.
As their romance deepens, Birdie becomes conflicted about her relationship with Joe. While charming with relentless magnetism, Birdie just can’t shake off the feeling that her boyfriend isn’t all he has led her to believe.
The new Fake TV show is created and written by acclaimed screenwriter, Anya Beyersdorf, whose other writing credits include Fires and The Twelve.
The series is co-directed by Emma Freeman, Jennifer Leacey and Taylor Ferguson. Gold Logie Award-winning, Asher Keddie, is also credited as a co-producer in addition to playing the lead role.
