What is the Avoidance TV series about?
Jonathan’s (Romesh Ranganathan) life revolves around his family, his son Spencer (Kieran Logendra) and his partner Claire (Jessica Knappett). When Claire tells him it’s over, he avoids dealing with the breakup and also decides not to tell their son as a way for him to protect his happiness.
Accused of being hard to live with, he seeks temporary shelter at his sister and her wife’s place where he tries to figure out what to do next, that is how to pretend he’s doing fine in front of Claire when he’s really not, just so he can avoid having the harder conversation.
In Season 2, Jonathan realises he wants Claire back and is now willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. He’s more confident than before too as he’s reinvented himself after all. Proud of his new body and a new hobby, his efforts may not be enough to win Claire’s heart again.
There’s a new man in the picture and despite feeling he’s a brand new version of himself, it turns out he hasn’t changed that much at all since there’s still one thing he keeps doing: avoiding conflicts at all costs!
Avoidance was written by series actors Romesh Ranganathan and Jessica Knappett themselves alongside Benjamin Green, Shaun Pye, Kefi Chadwick, and Neil Webster. Episodes were directed by Benjamin Green.
