Wondering where you can watch the Sail Grand Prix in Australia? You’re in the right place. The newest Sail GP season kicked off in mid-June of 2023, with plenty of interest around the world in this relatively new, globe-trotting tournament.
The Sail GP season takes in some of the best locations for sailing competition in the world. Events will be held in Europe, America, the North Atlantic and Middle East.
Coming hot off of their third consecutive title since the tournament’s inception, the Australian Sail GP team will be hoping to make it 4 from 4 come the end of the season in 2024. They’ll face stiff competition from our well-known neighbours, however, as the formidable New Zealand SailGP team is looking to claim their first championship title.
SailGP 2023/24 championship schedule
Founded by Larry Ellison and New Zealand sailing world champion Russell Coutts (who is also SailGP’s CEO), the fourth season of SailGP will have a 12-race worldwide circuit taking place on four continents from June 2023 through July 2024, which is one more round than last season.
Here in 2023-24, not only have the number of championship events expanded, the number of teams competing will also increase, from ten to eleven. The newest edition will be representing Germany.
The lure of SailGP is in the use by each team of similar hydrofoiling F50 catamarans, which are 50-foot race boats with 80-foot wingsails that soar over the water at speeds of more than 60mph. Each boat is owned by SailGP and every team across the season shares the exact same data. This eliminates any opportunity for one team to get ahead by means of technical or mechanical enhancement.
The calendar for 2023–2024 sees a lot of action in the North American market, which will host six of the 12 events. This includes a return to New York in June 2024, and a brand-new stop in Los Angeles on the LA Waterfront from July 22–23, 2023. The fixtures also include two staples of the SailGP championship, the iconic races in Sydney Australia (February 2024) and Auckland New Zealand (March 2024)
Check out the fixtures that are remaining in the fourth season of one of sport’s newest globe-trotting competitions, and read on to see how you can watch the the “world’s most exciting racing on water” live or on-demand in Australia.

After its introduction at the Paris Olympics in 1900, sailing as a sport has only grown in stature and popularity throughout the world. Since then It has been included in every summer Olympics event to be held since.
The Sail GP Impact League
Not wanting to simply rest on their laurels of having a successful SailGP league, organizers introduced an ‘Impact League’ in the second season. The Impact League is a table that charts the sustainability of each SailGP team, with points being scored against certain sustainability criteria.
