What is The Fall of Diddy about?
Born to Melvin Earl and Janice Combs, Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy or Puff Daddy, has a rich hip-hop career from when he founded his own recording label, Bad Boy Records.
Credited with developing such talents as The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Usher, he became one of the music industry’s crucial figures. That all ended when former girlfriend Cassie Ventura accuses Combs of abuse that was proven by a surveillance video.
Ventura’s lawsuit was only the beginning as several other victims came out with stories of Combs’ alleged violent behavior and sexual assault, reaching more than two dozen lawsuits. The culmination of his downfall was right after Homeland raided his property, leading to sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
In the documentary, several people who knew Combs at different points in his life sat down to offer an insight into the music mogul’s mind and behaviour. From when he was attending Howard University to starting Bay Boy Records up to the height of his success, viewers will witness pieces of P. Diddy’s life and the allegations of sexual abuse that caused the demise of his career and reputation.
Some of the personalities appearing in the docuseries are Tim Patterson, Combs’ childhood friend, Danity Kane member D. Woods, former Vibe editor-in-chief Danyel Smith, and producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones. Combs’ personal chef from 2007 to 2010, as well as his former driver, also sat down for interviews. Thalia Graves, who testified that Combs violently raped her in 2001, is also set to make an appearance.
Investigation Discovery is producing the four-part documentary examining Combs’ life through a collaboration with Rolling Stone Films. Just earlier this month, Peacock also released its own Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs-themed documentary, The Making of a Bad Boy.
Here, we learn of Diddy’s prior involvements with injustices in addition to his present cases of sexual harassment and other sexual crimes. One devastating tragedy was the stampede at New York’s City College, which happened due to Diddy’s failure to plan the event responsibly. Nine people died, but he escaped accountability by offering money to the families of victims, including Sonny Williams.
