Two years after the first film, Smile 2 is coming to the big screens with a new character coming face to face with the trauma-feeding demon.

The success of the psychological horror movie Smile resulted in the development of a sequel, which finally premieres today in Australia. Starring Naomi Scott (Charlie’s Angels, Aladdin), it follows a pop artist experiencing disturbing visions while she’s about to go on a world tour. As the pressures of fame escalate, so does the debilitating horror perpetuated by a vicious entity.

What is Smile 2 about?

After the tragic ending of the first film, the story picks up where it ended, only this time it revolves around the demonic entity’s next victim. The next target happens to be global pop sensation, who’s also a recent rehab patient Skye Riley (Scott).

About to embark on a world tour, witnessing a friend brutally take his own life has the pop star spiralling out of control, fuelled by her past and the unimaginable terrors brought by the demon playing with her mind.

Just like Rose (Sosie Bacon) in the first movie, Skye will attempt to defeat the Smile Demon with everything she has, but will it be enough? Joel, who appeared in the first film, also reprises his role in this sequel. We’ve yet to know the exact role he’ll play in the sequel.

We know he was the last one to see Rose alive so we have an idea of what comes next for him, but maybe we’ll find more answers about the entity with Joel’s help, no matter how short-lived it’s going to be.

Park Finn, who also wrote and directed the first movie, resumed his writing and directing duties in Smile 2. Serving as producers are Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, Parker Finn, and Robert Salerno.
