Tom Hardy and Austin Butler star in The Bikeriders, a crime drama following a motorcycle club evolving over the course of a decade, catapulting its members into a life of violence.
Documented by Danny Lyon, The Bikeriders is a book published in 1968, capturing Chicago’s Outlaws Motorcycle Club, and the inspiration behind Jeff Nichols’ new film of the same name.
Originally premiering at the 50th Telluride Film Festival last year, the new ensemble cast movie has been finally confirmed to arrive in Australian theatres in July.

What is the plot of The Bikeriders?
Set in the late 1960s, The Bikeriders movie follows an Illinois motorcycle group, the Chicago Vandals, and their eventual criminal exploits under the leadership of the enigmatic Johnny Davis (Tom Hardy).
When Johnny forges a strong bond with new recruit Benny (Austin Butler), the latter’s romantic relationship and ultimately marriage with Kathy (Jodie Comer) greatly suffers.
With the changing times, the motorcycle club, which began as a hangout place for local outsiders, finds itself transforming into an organisation laced with crimes and violence, threatening the group’s way of life.
Benny, conflicted between his loyalty to Johnny and the group and his future with Kathy, must cautiously decide which life he needs to let go of.
The movie is written and directed by Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special, Loving) and is inspired by the book “The Bikeriders” by Danny Lyon. Sarah Green, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Arnon Milchan are producers.
