What is the plot of Turtles All the Way Down?
Aza Holmes (Isabela Merced) is a 16-year-old high school student whose life is constantly bombarded with obsessive and intrusive thoughts – she suffers from obsessive–compulsive disorder and anxiety. Her best friend, Daisy Ramirez (Cree Cicchino), has been her most loyal and supportive ally.
When an opportunity to reconnect with her childhood love Davis (Felix Mallard) arrives, Aza is more than thrilled to pursue the possibility of romance with him. However, her obsessive thoughts end up ruining things for her, which only aggravates her feelings of self-hate and hopelessness.
Davis is also the son of Aza’s billionaire neighbour, who happens to be the fugitive she’s been searching for. With everything going on with her, and as her mental health continues to suffer, Aza must see herself to be one day ready for love and happiness – even when her mind doesn’t want her to.
The new movie is directed by Hannah Marks (Don’t Make Me Go) from a screenplay written by Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker. It is produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and Isaac Klausner.
