The Boiling Point movie was met with rave reviews when it premiered in 2021 that a continuation series was greenlit by BBC with Stephen Graham reprising his role as troubled chef Andy.

With the premiere date just around the corner, here’s everything you need to know about Boiling Point‘s premiere in Australia, including when and where to watch every episode.

What’s in this Guide?

What is the plot of Boiling Point?

The Boiling Point series picks up eight months after the movie’s intense ending with Andy Jones (Stephen Graham) suffering a heart attack. Following excruciating challenges as Head Chef of Jones & Sons during that one fateful shift where every staff seemingly lost it, Jones reached his ‘boiling point’.

In the original film, notably shot in one take, Andy and his staff endured a crazy night that started with their restaurant business getting a lower Health and Safety rating. Then came a customer suffering a serious allergic reaction and a celebrity chef announcing Andy owed him £200,000 from the time they worked together. The immense pressures of the job proved to be too much that the front of house staff constantly bickered with the kitchen staff. After a painfully hectic day, Andy, who was already struggling with drug and alcohol issues, collapsed in the kitchen.

Several months later, Sous Chef Carly (Vinette Robinson) is now Head Chef for new Dalston restaurant Point North. She brings back Andy’s old kitchen crew as she strives to make a name for herself with her own restaurant. Graham also reprises his role as Andy who’s recovering from his heart surgery. Now Carly’s team does everything in their power to keep the business profitable, facing the pressures of keeping the restaurant running bear down on them while the entire industry suffers.

More than tackling the vicious world of the hospitality industry, Boiling Point also explores the complicated personal lives of its characters to cover several themes, including work-life balance, mental health, addiction, and many other relevant issues. The new BBC series is created by Philip Barantini, who also directed and co-wrote the original movie, alongside James Cummings and Stephen Graham. Barantini also directs the 2023 show along with Mounia Akl.
