Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt this year with more stunts and more running in Mission Impossible 7. One of the best action franchises of all time, Mission: Impossible has been delivering high-octane action thrills since 1996 when the first Mission Impossible film was released.
Nearly three decades later and the franchise shows no signs of slowing down, each new movie an improvement than the previous entry. In addition to Cruise, other familiar faces coming back for another round of visceral action that doesn’t rely much on CGI are Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby.
The most expensive in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning delivers top-tier fun and intensity with its lead star mostly doing his own stunts.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning plot
In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (Paramount dropped Part One from the title), Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: to locate a rogue A.I. and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Failing to do so will bring disastrous results: the world of espionage will be overtaken by a sentient machine, leading to the world’s collapse.
As a terrifying new weapon that’s more than capable of eviscerating humanity, superpowers from all around the world will do anything to be the one to control it. The urgency of the mission has Ethan carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, kinda-sorta literally, so that he’s forced to accept that nothing is more important than accomplishing it, not even the lives of the people he cherishes.
The mission is aggravatingly complicated with dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, making him question the life he’s led throughout the years and the consequences of his choices.
In addition to new cast members joining the seventh film, including Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, and Mariela Garriga, Dead Reckoning also returns former IMF director Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny) to Ethan’s life, bringing him the ultimate make or break mission.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning is directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher, Rogue Nation, Fallout) from a script that McQuarrie co-wrote with Erik Jendresen (Band of Brothers, Killing Lincoln).
