What’s In this Review
What is Fox Sports?
When it comes to sport in Australia, there’s no bigger name than Fox Sports. While Fox Sports was, for a long time, out of reach of some Aussie sports fans, recent changes have made it far more affordable and accessible than ever before. By signing up to Foxtel Now, Kayo Sports, and BeIN Sports, you can get access to top quality sport on a month-by-month basis.
You can start instantly streaming all the Fox Sports channels within minutes of signing up to those streaming providers, and the cost of the Base pack plus Sports is low considering how much top-quality content you can access.

What can I watch on Fox Sports?
Fox Sports now has specialist channels, covering the best of European sport, and dedicated channels for the sporting codes that make up the fabric of Australian life — the AFL, NRL and cricket. Fox Sports’ dedicated football and cricket channels are a fan’s dream — with every single match covered live and direct, cutting down on ads to maximise the excitement.
Technology has made it easier than ever to get connected with all that Fox Sports has to offer. While anyone with a home Foxtel connection can add the Fox Sports pack to their subscription and get instant access to all channels, there are many for whom a hardware-installed Foxtel subscription just isn’t possible. That’s where the convenience of Foxtel Now comes in — every Fox Sports channel is bundled up in the Foxtel Now Premium Sports pack.

What about sporting news?
There is so much happening in the wide world of sports that it can be hard to keep up with the latest news — unless you tune in to the dedicated Fox Sports News channel that is part of the base channel package. There you’ll be able to keep up to date with the latest, 24 hours a day. For even more detail and analysis though, you can get the stories behind all the competitions in the Fox Sports TV guide on the dedicated web site, which gives you the latest news, live scores, and video, featuring dedicated pages for every style of sport.
There’s the fixtures for upcoming games and their on-air schedules, dedicated sport-specific podcasts, highlights, funny moments, facts and figures and more. It is the perfect companion to the on-air action, and there’s a free app available for iOS and Android that puts all that detailed coverage into the palm of your hand.
How much does Fox Sports cost?
Improvements in technology, and a change in policy at Foxtel, has driven down not just the cost of Fox Sports for Aussie viewers, but the commitment required to sign up. By signing up through Foxtel Now, you’ll get Fox Sports for a modest $54 monthly fee. For around $99 you can get yourself the Foxtel Now set-top box, which will make browsing and viewing quicker and easier, though you can stream on a wide range of other devices. If you’re not sure if it’s the service for you, there’s a ten-day free trial which will let you try out Fox Sports’ channels without paying a cent.
Don’t forget that the trial doesn’t just include Fox Sports – it gives you access to the entire Foxtel Now package. This includes great TV series, movies and documentaries. Foxtel Now has recently partnered with HBO for another extended term to give Aussie viewers premiere access to top-class HBO content. If you’re strictly all about sports then we recommend Kayo Sports. Check out our review.

Fox Sports with Kayo
Being a dedicated sports streaming service, Kayo has got the sporting codes of all the major sporting events so there’s no missing out on all the big games and matches. They are also focused on certain sporting codes rather than channels, although streaming of linear channels like that of Fox Sports is available as well. Streaming with Kayo is easy and with many options. You can take advantage of their 14-day free trial offer, and watch the remainder of the AFL and NRL 2021 seasons.
Kayo is also available from Telstra, although you have to be a Telstra postpaid customer in order to add the service to your account. Currently, subscribing to Kayo through Telstra can give you monthly discounts for a year ($20/mth off for Live Pass customers and $10/mth off for standard Telstra customers).

Fox Sports with Telstra and Foxtel Now
If you happen to have an active Telstra subscription, you can opt to simply add Foxtel Now to your account to make paying your bills even more convenient. Getting Foxtel Now from Telstra pretty much delivers the exact same thing as Foxtel Now from Foxtel does, and also comes with a 10-day free trial offer as well.

Fox Sports features
With Fox Sports through Foxtel Now, the big difference from traditional pay TV is that you don’t receive the live channels via a cable or satellite dish – everything is streamed directly via the internet. There’s no set top box or cable installation required to view it – all you need to do is sign up online and you’re ready to start viewing immediately.
Fox Sports’ web platform show if you have shows in progress, even where you’re up to in the middle of an episode in case you have to take a break, and there’s full watchlist functionality built in as well. With an easy-to-browse live channel section as well, the Foxtel Now web site is a great way to watch your shows.
If you’d prefer to watch on your TV, though, there are options. Specifically designed for ease of use and picture quality, the dedicated Foxtel Now box is the perfect way to get Foxtel Now onto your big screen TV. Unlike the apps that come installed on some TVs, this box is designed from the ground up to make browsing and streaming Foxtel Now smooth and seamless, with an interface inspired by Foxtel’s acclaimed iQ boxes. This little device also gives you access to everything else you’d want to watch, from free-to-air TV to Stan, Netflix and YouTube. It’s easy to set up – just plug the box in, sign in with your account details and you’re ready to go, with no need to mess around switching inputs and remotes to watch different services.
How’s the Fox Sports user experience?
If there was ever a good reason to make Foxtel’s HD feature a must-have, Fox Sports is it — every single channel is broadcast in full high definition, making sure you don’t miss a single blade of grass or bead of sweat as you watch your favourite sportspeople do battle. Do yourself a favour on this one, if your TV can display HD, sign up and enjoy the feeling of being right there. If it can’t, well we recommend not sampling Fox Sports in HD anywhere else – or you might find yourself upgrading right away!

There are several ways to watch and stream Foxtel Now once you’re subscribed, starting with the recently redesigned web interface that gives you fast, super-smooth access to all your live channels and on-demand content right from your web browser on your desktop or laptop computer.

How to watch AFL and NRL while overseas
If you’re heading outside of Australia for a business trip or a holiday, you don’t have to miss out of the biggest NRL and AFL games. The Watch AFL app gives you live and on demand access to every AFL Premiership game including the Grand Final on your favourite device.
The Watch NRL app does exactly the same but for Live League. You also get to watch dedicated League shows like The Late Show with Matty Johns and NRL 360 – as they go out live or later on demand.
How to contact Fox Sports
Call 131 999 today if you’re a new customer. This will take you through to Foxtel, as Foxtel has plans that include the Fox Sports channel. The call centre is open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturdays 10:00 am to 6:00 pm for general enquiries.
Fox Sports verdict
If you love your sport, free-to-air TV just isn’t going to scratch that itch. Digging around the channels trying to find the often-delayed coverage of your favourite sport can be frustrating enough, but for many sporting codes, there’s no coverage on free-to-air at all.
Fox Sports brings it all to you, with no interruptions from other programs. With Fox Sports, sport is the program 24 hours a day in full HD. This is sport presented the way it should be — for the fans, not for the accountants.
