Great Expectations is a Charles Dickens classic that’s been adapted for film and television many times. The story of Pip, Magwitch, Estella, and Miss Havisham are more than compelling to revisit after all. That’s why this year we’ll see another TV series adaptation come to life courtesy of Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who we can expect will put his own twist to this classic tale of ambition, love, moral decay, and redemption.

Great Expectations TV series preview
Great Expectations tells the coming-of-age story of young Pip, an orphan who longs for an extraordinary life. When he falls in love, his yearning for wealth and status only grows. A twist of fate finally allows him to be the man he thinks he wants to be, but with disastrous consequences he won’t see coming.
Instead, it introduces him to a dark world filled with evil machinations and the great expectations placed upon him become a heavy burden to bear. Will he be able to pay the true cost of his new world or will he let the darkness it brings drag him down to the bottomless pit of regret?
From executive producers Ridley Scott and Tom Hardy, this year’s adaptation of Great Expectations is written by Steven Knight, who also serves as an executive producer. Oscar-winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) plays the bitter and eccentric Miss Havisham, while Dunkirk lead star Fionn Whitehead plays Pip.
