Foxtel Go - The app for Foxtel while you're on the go
The Foxtel Go app is available for iOS and Android phones and tablets, as well as a web site for PC/Mac users. Foxtel Go gives you full access to stream all your Foxtel channels no matter where you are in Australia. Oh, and it’s complimentary with your pay tv Foxtel TV subscription.
What’s in this Guide?
What is Foxtel Go?
Foxtel Go is a companion app that lets you stream live Foxtel channels from anywhere you have an internet connection and a compatible device. That’s right: every channel from your subscribed Foxtel packs are available right there in the app for you to view at a touch of the screen. Foxtel has set the new standard with pay TV and the many ways you can watch TV whether it’s live or on demand , at home or on the go.
With so many channels available to you across Foxtel’s vast range, it’s easy to miss something you wanted to watch. In an age of on demand streaming services, the idea of missing or not being able to watch movies when they air feels about as relevant as renting a VHS from Blockbuster. But this isn’t about recording something to watch later – it’s about watching on the go. With the on the go Foxtel app, you can do exactly that.

What can I watch on Foxtel Go?
The Foxtel Go app is merely a companion app to an active Foxtel subscription. Whatever packs you have subscribed to through your Foxtel plan act as the content you can stream online via your Foxtel ID. While you’ll find all the channels from your subscribed Foxtel packs available to you on Foxtel Go, there are some minor differences where streaming rights means changes have to be made. For example, Fox Footy on your iQ box becomes “Footy Play” on the catchup app Foxtel Go, with some minor differences in content.
Depending on your Foxtel subscription, using your Foxtel Go app can offer access to some of the greatest live sport, movies & TV shows only available on Fox. Channels available on your subscription will mirror to your PC (Chrome or Safari for Mac), Apple TV, iOS and Android phones and tablets. Check out the latest and greatest hits thanks to Foxtel with our streaming search engine below.
If film and TV is just the beginning for you, but live sport is everything, then the mobile app Foxtel Go still has you covered. Fox Sports is the home of live sport, and that’s no secret. If you’re on the go, you may be restricted to standard definition or at least risk some heavy data charges, but don’t let that stop you from streaming your favourite team’s big game.
Some of the many sports included with Fox are:
How much is Foxtel Go?
Foxtel Go doesn’t offer its own plans – it’s connected to your main Foxtel package. So, as long as you have a paid active subscription to Foxtel, the app is free to use. Foxtel Go gives you immediate and direct access to any channel you’ve got access to as part of your subscription. But even better, you also get full access to those channels’ on-demand libraries, which lets you pick something to watch wherever and whenever you like. Check out some of Foxtel’s best offers below.
Does Foxtel Go have a free trial?
Foxtel Go is completely free if you have an active Foxtel subscription and internet connection. New customers could potentially be eligible for a discounted live TV subscription with Foxtel, but that is no guarantee. Usually, Foxtel discount their monthly service fee or the installation costs, or even give a month free trial.
Regardless, once you have your free trial or Foxtel subscription, Foxtel Go is completely free – that’s right, no extra cost. Worth trying out and why not compare a few other streaming services with free trials while you’re at it.
If you’d like a free trial, you can get 10 days free with a Foxtel Now subscription so you can start browsing that Foxtel TV guide and watching today. This is hands down one of the best streaming services out there.
Foxtel iQ5
Every Foxtel subscription includes an iQ box, the latest version being the Foxtel iQ5. While it is initially offered to only select customers this year, the new iQ5 is now widely available.
The main difference being that you can select its setup via satellite or your internet connection. Fundamentally, you can now watch Foxtel with the Foxtel iQ5 through your internet connection – this is similar to what you can do with the Foxtel Now box. However, the Foxtel Now box doesn’t allow recording of sports and your favourite shows, but the Foxtel iQ5 still can!
The box records two internet channels and one free to air channel at the same time while allowing you to watch a fourth. So if you can’t or don’t want to install a Foxtel satellite dish on your roof (and who would!), then the iQ5 connects through your broadband connection while allowing you to watch Foxtel’s 4K channels.
How do I get Foxtel Go?
It’s as simple as downloading the free Foxtel Go app from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, or from the Google Play store on your Android phone or tablet. Sign in with your Foxtel ID and password and you’ll immediately have access to all the channels you get as part of your plan. Alternatively, you can access the Foxtel Go service directly from your pc map or laptop web browser (Google Chrome is recommended) by heading to Foxtel and signing in.
You can register up to five devices to use your account, and watch Foxtel Go on two of them at any time – so the kids can catch up with their shows while you re-binge Game of Thrones. Those two simultaneous streams are separate from use of the installed Foxtel service itself, by the way – so a third family member could be checking out their AFL team’s big game on the iQ5 box while those two Foxtel Go streams are playing. It’s incredibly useful – and, as we said, completely free!
Foxtel Go app features
Just because the Foxtel Go app is a free companion service, doesn’t mean that the experience feels cheap. Some free streaming apps are limited to standard definition or riddled with ads. That’s not the case with Foxtel Go, in fact the app mirrors that of a Foxtel Now subscription with its premium user features.
With the Foxtel Go App you can:
- Watch live channels as they air through a range of compatible devices
- Stream TV shows and movies on demand any time, any place
- Browse the Foxtel TV guide without interruption to your stream
- Set your iQ box to record shows from anywhere, never miss out again
