Maxine is a three-part UK series dramatising the double murder that shocked the country. Premiering on Channel 5 last year, it’s based on Maxine Carr’s involvement in the Soham murders case more than 20 years go. It stars newcomer Jemma Carlton as the titular character alongside Natalie Britton as tabloid journalist Jane Kerrigan and Scott Reid as convicted killer Ian Huntley.

Maxine TV series preview
The new British drama from Channel 5 follows the investigation of school assistant Maxine Carr and her school caretaker fiancé Ian Huntley, pertaining to the murders of school girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
The shocking events perpetrated by Huntley himself is revisited through Maxine, who provided a false alibi to cover her partner’s evil role in the horrifying crime that left the small town of Soham paralysed with grief.
In addition to upcoming talent Jemma Carlton, Them actress Natalie Britton, and Line of Duty star Scott Reid, Steve Edge also stars in the television series as journalist Brian Farmer.
Journalists played a vital role in discovering that Maxine had lied to give Huntley an alibi. During a TV interview, she notoriously talked about Holly and Jessica in the past tense, which immediately instigated suspicions amongst the reporters. This eventually led to their arrest and conviction.
