Stonehouse TV series preview
In ITV’s new drama, Succession star Matthew Macfadyen portrays MP John Stonehouse, a disgraced government official who, in 1974, faked his own death to escape his deteriorating political career. That is after being accused as an agent of the Czech secret service.
More than worrying about his future in the government, his impending business troubles and complex relationships also aggravated his already chaotic life. Eventually, he resorted to doing the outrageous with Stonehouse deliberately stealing the identity of a constituent who recently died.
Part fictional and part factual, the series is set in November 1974 when he disappeared from the beach of a large luxury hotel in Miami, Florida. His plan is to stay hidden in a failed attempt to escape his floundering reputation. Swimming into the sea, he left his neatly folded pile behind and vanished.
But a flawed plan like his is bound to have consequences, awful ones. Find out how it all unfolds for Stonehouse in this new three-part drama streaming now in Australia.
