Vardy V Rooney: A Courtroom Drama preview
The two-part series recreates the high-stakes drama brought by the defamation case between Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney, two feuding women whose dispute reached the High Court of Justice. Their highly publicised feud catapulted everyone involved, including their respective legal teams, into the spotlight.
In 2019, Rooney accused Vardy of leaking posts from her private Instagram account to the British newspaper The Sun. The latter denied the allegations and went on to sue Rooney for libel. The following year, both parties went all out as the case was brought to the High Court.
Going to trial in 2022, Vardy and Rooney’s legal battle received much international media coverage with the press examining their every move. Since the drama is based on real court transcripts, viewers can further delve into the case and the unbelievable moments that captured the public’s interest.
Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama stars BAFTA-winning actress Chanel Cresswell (This is England) as Coleen Rooney, WAG and wife of English professional football manager and former player Wayne Rooney, and Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones) as Rebekah Vardy, fellow WAG and wife of English football player Jamie Vardy.
