One of the best musical documentaries of the year, If These Walls Could Sing pays homage to the longest-running studio in the world – Abbey Road Studios. It’s directed by Mary McCartney in her revealing feature documentary debut, exploring the history of the studio and featuring intimate interviews of the legendary musicians who have recorded some of the world’s most iconic music there.
What’s in this Guide?
If These Walls Could Sing documentary preview
For Mary McCartney, If These Walls Could Sing is a personal film of memories as the studio itself is a huge part of her life. And so she gives us an unrivalled access, guiding us through nine decades of musical history and featuring remarkable names whose talents are made more meaningful by the studio’s creative magic.
More than focusing on leading artists whose music were created within the walls of the studio, the documentary also reveals how producers, composers, engineers, and staff of Abbey Road found their musical calling, leading to the creation of a community that has since become a crucial part of the music industry.
Even more thrilling for fans, we’re given much more access to these famously private studios by offering vivid archive footage, session tapes, and a diverse collection of stills. Most importantly, the artists themselves share their experiences during their time in the studio; with vintage images and sounds, these memories are brought to life. And just like that, Abbey Road is once again at its glorious peak.
A Disney Original Documentary, If These Walls Could Sing features interviews of Paul McCartney, Elton John, Liam Gallagher, John Williams, Jimmy Page, Noel Gallagher, Kate Bush and Celeste, as well as Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and David Gilmour.
