What’s in this Guide?
Scott & Bailey preview
ITV’s acclaimed crime drama series follows detective constables Janet Scott (Lesley Sharp) and Rachel Bailey (Suranne Jones) as they investigate murders for the major incident team of the Manchester Metropolitan Police. Scott is dependable and usually thinks things through. Bailey, on the other hand, is passionate about her job and very intuitive, which often leads her to be impulsive.
Despite the differences in their characters, they’ve established a strong friendship that helps them rely on each other to deal with horrendous crimes. They also draw on each other’s strengths to overcome the complications that their careers inflict on their personal lives.
Praised for its realistic portrayal of modern policing, it’s worth noting that one of the show’s co-creators, Diane Taylor, is a former Detective Inspector from Greater Manchester Police. She was paired with prolific television writer Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack) to develop Scott & Bailey.
