After his adventures in 2006’s The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, Scott Calvin is back in Disney+’s new comedy series, The Santa Clauses. Only this time, he’s starting to have a change of heart about his role. For starters, Christmas is not as famous as it once was, affecting his Santa magic.

And after being Santa Claus for nearly three decades, it’s becoming clearer that he can’t be Santa forever – he’s beginning to fail in his Santa duties! Luckily, there’s a way to retire from his post. Now all he needs to do is find a suitable replacement Santa while he prepares his family to start a new life south of the pole.

What’s in this Guide?

What is the plot of The Santa Clauses?

It’s been nearly thirty years and Scott Calvin has just turned 65. He’s still as jolly as ever even though times have changed and Christmas is not as popular as before. As more people dismiss Christmas as a magical occasion, his Santa magic also starts to wane, making it harder for him to get Christmas-related things done.

Feeling that he’s no longer perfect for the job and wanting to retire to be a better husband and father, he thinks it’s time to hang up his Santa hat. For the longest time, he’s really looking forward to resume his life as an ordinary person. But will it work out for the best or will he need to go back to the North Pole to save the day?

It turns out Scott will really have to return to the North Pole in the second season after his retirement plans didn’t push through. After all, finding another Santa Claus seems like an impossible task. In the previous season, Scott and his family did save Christmas and everything that it stands for, but it doesn’t mean that he’s given up on his ultimate quest to find his replacement.

He’s also realised that if there’s someone who can do the job, it’s none other than his son Cal (Austin Kane). But with the arrival of Magnus Antas, aka The Mad Santa (Eric Stonestreet), things will be a tad more difficult in the North Pole as the Calvin family fight to protect their home and save Christmas, again.
