Documentary filmmaker and self described “anxious New Yorker” John Wilson spends much time walking around New York in his attempt to make sense of things, some random, some relatable, and some surprisingly profound. From his exploration of the city, he gets to observe his fellow New Yorkers, which somehow leads to cultural observation and even self discovery.
The first season received widespread acclaim, hence, fans will be delighted to know that How To with John Wilson is back for a third and final season. Here’s everything to know about Season 3.
What’s in this Guide?
How To with John Wilson preview
In this breakthrough docuseries, documentary filmmaker John Wilson covertly and obsessively films the lives of the people he comes across with. Observing them from behind the camera, Wilson also strikes up conversations that lead to further exchanges, interactions that take wildly unexpected turns.
Wilson’s candid and raw commentary also adds to its overall appeal, transforming each episode into a uniquely hilarious odyssey of self discovery and cultural observation.
Both quirky and engaging, How To with John Wilson offers John’s refreshing honesty as he attempts to give everyday advice on topics we can all resonate with, all the while dealing with his own personal issues. The docuseries is a continuation of Wilson’s previously released “how to” short films, his entire work of which depicts the tricky yet intriguing ironies of modern life.
Following its acclaimed previous seasons, the new episodes take surprising turns as John tackles a new set of topics like how to find a public restroom, how to work out, and how to say wow to little things. The series is directed and created by Wilson himself for HBO.
While Season 3’s style and imagery feel surprising, Wilson has also said in an interview that the finale gave a sense of a vanishing point that it only feels right to end the series after three seasons.
Nathan Fielder, Michael Koman, and Clark Reinking, who previously collaborated on the well-received comedy Nathan For You, serve as executive producers for the show.
