Alexander Skarsgård stars as a Viking warrior prince, Amleth, in visionary director Robert Eggers’ 2022 film, The Northman. Just like Eggers’ previous projects The Witch and The Lighthouse, The Northman is a cinematic saga worthy of delving into, rich in its grand visual elements and epic storytelling.
The film is also bolstered by the riveting performances of its ensemble cast, which includes Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Claes Bang, Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Björk. Finally dropping on streaming TV after hitting the theatres last April, find out how you can stream The Northman online in Australia here.

The Northman movie preview
In this action-filled epic, a young Viking prince, Amleth, swears vengeance for his father’s murder. He narrowly escapes death after his uncle’s betrayal, which also steals his right to ascension and captures his mother. Years go by and the young boy becomes a Viking who raids Slavic villages.
After meeting a sorceress, he is reminded of his vow and his vendetta becomes as fresh as when his kingdom was taken from him, his father, King Aurvandill, betrayed and killed. Driven by his quest to avenge his murdered father, he seeks the uncle who caused their kingdom to fall and make him suffer whatever the cost.
The Northman, a historical epic with strong themes of Norse mythology, is written and directed by filmmaker Robert Eggers, who also co-wrote it with Icelandic poet Sjón. It stars Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, and Anya Taylor-Joy in lead roles.
