Rogue Rubin provides a rare glimpse into the world of trophy hunting in the isolated African plains while she faces tremendous personal risk. After learning that lions are facing extinction, Rubin decides to help do something about it by infiltrating the world of trophy hunters and capturing footage that’s beyond shocking. Resolved and fearless, she creates a false identity and poses as a pro-hunting big cat photographer.

Finally getting an unfiltered access, she comes face to face with the hunters while observing the clandestine operations that allow them to shoot these glorious animals from a far distance, the animal unknowing that day would be its last. But more than examining this industry and its ironic ties to animal conservation, what the filmmaker really wants to examine is the hero-complex mentality that makes these men kill lions for sport.

Appropriately named Rogue, the young woman offers us a documentary that is part thriller, part exposé, and part plea for audiences to support the conservation of endangered lions in Africa. Moreover, the docufilm also explores the debate around trophy hunting and how some conservationists are not against it.
