Director Roland Emmerich, the Master of Disaster, graces 2022 with his latest sci-fi disaster flick, the Moonfall movie. It follows two former NASA astronauts and a conspiracy theorist who discover perhaps one of the world’s most shocking secrets about the moon.
When Earth’s supposedly natural satellite starts to leave its orbit and threaten life as we know it, the trio embarks on an impossible last ditch mission to correct the Moon’s orbit in a race against time. Launching in Australian theatres last February, Moonfall finally drops on streaming next month. Find out how to watch the film with a free trial using this guide.

Moonfall movie preview
When a mysterious force knocks the moon from its orbit, a forthcoming collision course with Earth leads to global panic. With mere weeks before impact, former NASA astronaut Jo Fowler (Halle Berry), now a NASA executive, must join forces with disgraced former NASA astronaut Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) to rectify the moon’s orbit.
Also joining the mission is K.C. Houseman (John Bradley), an independent researcher who finds out the truth about the moon. Together, the unlikely heroes lead a new mission to prevent the rogue moon from a lethal collision course with life, risking their future and leaving their loved ones.
Moonfall is directed and produced by Roland Emmerich, best known for directing several blockbuster sci-fi disaster films, including Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012, just to name a few. Emmerich also served as the film’s writer alongside Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. Filmed on a nearly $150 million budget, it’s one of the most expensive independently produced films ever made.
