Star Wars fans in Australia have another sci-fi adventure to embark on with Andor. A prequel to the Star Wars spin-off movie Rogue One, it delves into the life of thief-turned-Rebel spy Cassian Andor prior to becoming a captain in the film. Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue One and is best known for his work in the Bourne movies, serves as creator of the show. Diego Luna reprises his role as the titular character, expanding his story and, overall, bringing a different glow to the Star Wars series.

What’s in this Guide?
Andor TV series preview
Andor is set during the time when the Rebel Alliance is forming in opposition to the Galactic Empire. In Rogue One, a band of rebels must raid Scarif to retrieve plans to the Death Star, the Galactic Empire’s most formidable weapon. One of these rebels is Cassian Andor, the leader of the rebel unit Rogue One. However, he wasn’t always the passionate and courageous Rebel Alliance captain he ultimately became to be.
In the Andor TV series, spectators will see the Star Wars galaxy in a different light, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey in discovering his true self and purpose. It brings forward the tale of the growing rebellion against the Empire and how the people and planets became more involved. This is an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue, and in the centre of it all is Cassian Andor – following his path of becoming a rebel hero.
The series was first announced in 2018, described as a spy thriller revolving around Cassian Andor. Filming began at the end of November 2020 and concluded in September 2021. Even better news, a second season is already in the works, which covers the events leading into Rogue One’s narrative.
