What is the plot of Ghostbusters: Afterlife?
The film is set thirty-two years after the events of Ghostbusters II. Callie, a single mom played by Carrie Coon, moves to a small town together with her two kids, Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace).
When Phoebe discovers that their house is haunted, she seeks help from her teacher, seismologist Gary Grooberson, portrayed by Paul Rudd. As a big fan of the Ghostbusters, he helps Phoebe learn more about them, her grandfather’s secret legacy and the family’s connection to the ghost-fighting group.
They also discover that a vengeful ghost named Gozer aims to seek revenge on the Ghostbusters. The family, along with their new friends and the original Ghostbusters, try to save the town from supernatural chaos and get rid of Gozer once and for all.
Directed by Jason Reitman and produced by Ivan Reitman, who directed the original Ghostbusters movies in the ’80s, the new Ghostbusters film is both a commercial and critical success. A sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is set to premiere in March 2024.
