A period drama with a punch, it follows lead character Phileas Fogg who’s driven with one seemingly impossible mission – to circumnavigate the world in 80 days! Around the World in 80 Days is Jules Verne’s globetrotting epic story of Phileas Fogg, journalist Abigail Fix, and Fogg’s valet, Passepartout, and their adventure to travel around the world in just 80 days.

The iconic Jules Verne tale starts when Phileas bets a fortune to prove to the aloof members of the prestigious Reform Club that he can travel around the world in 80 days. From then on Phileas, played by David Tennant, face all the challenges to finish his quest and prove to everyone that he’s right.

The TV series is composed of 8 episodes, all full of lively adventures of the brave trio from London. It was commissioned by the European Alliance, with a co-production alliance of France Télévisions, ZDF of Germany, and RAI of Italy, as well as the additional co-production partners of Masterpiece (US) and Be-Films/RTBF (Belgium). It was produced and filmed in the UK, France, and South Africa, with some episodes shot in Romania.

Around the World in 80 Days first premiered on the 5th of December 2021 in La La Une in Belgium and later on BBC One in the UK. After After over six months, the adventure-packed series finally becomes available in Australia.

It’s directed by Steve Barron (5 episodes), Brian Kelly (2 episodes), and Charles Beeson (1 episode) while the main title score is by legendary composer Hans Zimmer and Christian Lundberg. Lead actor David Tennant is executive producer, alongside Simon Crawford-Collins, Lionel Uzan, and Pascal Breton.

One season of Around the World in 80 Days has been released so far. In Australia, The Around the World in 80 Days TV series premiered on 26th June 2022 on BINGE, Foxtel, and Foxtel Now. After eight episodes, the series concluded on 14th August 2022.

Will Around the World in 80 Days return for season 2? 

For fans of the series, yes, Around the World in 80 Days will return for a second season. The renewal was announced last November, though more details on the new season have yet to be announced.
