The smash-hit musical, which is based on Frank Wedekind’s 1891 German play of the same name, launched at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in December 2006. The original main cast included Jonathan Groff, Lea Michele, and John Gallagher Jr.. Tackling teen love, abortion, abuse, sexual identity, and suicide, all of which are taboo issues especially involving teenagers, Spring Awakening went on to sweep the Tonys and forever changed the lives of its cast. 

Those You’ve Known also shares the making of the iconic musical, from the challenges and setbacks faced to its ultimate victory at the Tonys.
