Cricketer Shane Walsh first aspired to become a great football player but was kicked out for not being good enough. It turns out he was meant to be extraordinarily good at something else. During a period when leg-spin was considered a lost art after fast bowlers dominated cricket decades earlier, Warne brought it back with his stupendous mastery of the bowling style.
Shane, a documentary that shares significant aspects of his life, including his rise to fame, the magnitude of his success, and the sacrifices he had to make in order to be the best, are all tackled in this exclusive biopic. Shane also covers both the good and the bad, the bad of which touches on the difficult subject of his failed marriage and the affairs that caused it, as well as other scandals that threatened his career.
His 12-month ban from cricket (he tested positive for a banned diuretic before World Cup) proved to be an eye-opening moment of clarity for Warne, after which he rebuilt his career and his reputation as one of the world’s greatest cricketers. Warne retired from international cricket in 2007, although he was signed as the captain for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2008.
Moreover, Shane features interviews with Lord Ian Botham, Sachin Tendulkar, Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Isa Guha, Ian Chappell, Ed Sheeran, Chris Martin, and including Shane Warne himself and Warne’s family. His ex-wife Simone Callahan also appears in the documentary. The Shane Warne documentary was released earlier this year on 25th January via streaming and with a brief theatrical screening. Shane Warne, also known for his larger than life personality that transcended cricket, passed away just weeks after the doco’s premiere.

On 4th March 2022, Shane Warne died of a “congenital disease” while on Koh Samui island in Thailand. It has been confirmed by the Royal Thai police that he died of natural causes. Shane Warne’s body will be returned to his family after they have accepted the finding. Since the announcements of his passing, tributes are pouring across Australia and the rest of the world to celebrate the legacy he had left behind.
