What people are asking about golf
New to golf? Or just want to further your knowledge on the sport? Find out what people are asking about the sport below.
The PGA Tour is the name given to the organisation that arranges almost all the tournaments in the golf calendar in North America, including the Players Championship. However, they do not run any of the four majors, including the PGA Championship, which is instead organised by the PGA (a separate organisation to the PGA Tour).
LIV Golf is a relatively new golf tour created by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and led by Australian former golfer Greg Norman. The new tour is set to rival the PGA Tour, but it has been surrounded in controversy with regards to its creation and funding. Even so, many professionals welcomed the competition.
In truth, no-one knows for sure when or by whom golf was invented. It’s generally thought to have originated in Scotland as far back as the thirteenth century, before gaining popularity in the UK and then to other countries through the British Empire.
