What’s in this Guide?
Fear the Walking Dead preview
The first spin-off initially set a few years behind The Walking Dead, which is why those initial episodes of the first season offered a more comprehensive view of the world before the undead apocalypse. A companion series of the original, Fear the Walking Dead Season 1 followed a highly dysfunctional family consisting of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), her fiancé Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis), daughter Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), and son Nick (Frank Dillane). Joining them were Travis’ son from his previous marriage, Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie), and his ex-wife, Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez).
From Season 4, the series begins to shift its focus towards Morgan Jones (Lennie James), who first appeared in the original series as the first survivor encountered by Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Jones encounters the group’s surviving members in Texas, where new characters are introduced. Fast-forward to latter seasons and the series began sharing a timeline with The Walking Dead. This comes after the group is destroyed by Virginia and the Pioneers, resulting in their dispersal across her far-reaching settlements.
In the final season, we’ll see the return of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), after her shocking re-emergence in the Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 finale. The character has been presumed dead back in the fourth season when Madison made the ultimate sacrifice by leading zombies back into the baseball stadium and then locking herself in so the others could escape.
Season 8 also introduces the previously mythical safe zone called PADRE, the ones behind Madison’s rescue and now her sort of employer. Some survivors may believe that PADRE is the place where they can hope for a better world, but the organisation has something else in mind, something far more disturbing that kept Madison from seeking out her children in all those years.
Another notable development in the eighth and final season is the seven-year time jump from the Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 finale, which also introduces us to Morgan’s daughter, Mo. Even more intriguing, the task of reviving everyone’s hope for a better world rests at the eight-year-old girl. Now all Morgan and Madison have to do is rescue Mo from PADRE’s cynical rule.
Cast of Fear the Walking Dead
Lennie James as Morgan Jones, Colman Domingo as Victor Strand, and Kim Dickens’ Madison Clark are leading Season 8’s main cast. Alycia Debnam-Carey, who starred since the beginning as Alicia Clark left the series after Fear the Walking Dead Season 7. Zoey Merchant also joins the Season 8 cast as Morgan Jones’ daughter Mo. We’ve listed other characters appearing in the final season, as well as the actors portraying them.
